EMS Rules
This page covers the rules for playing as a paramedic. The main Server Rules still apply to you as well. For when criminals may fight, see Criminal Rules. Cop rules are on Police Rules.
The short version
| Rule | In short |
|---|---|
| Stay neutral | Do not side with criminals or cops. You may take priority over reviving a cop before a criminal, but it is not mandatory. |
| Medical aid only on the spot | Revive and heal through the script. You are not a getaway driver or a gunman. |
| Force is for the scene | Shoot only to protect yourself or during a revive you are actively performing. Stop when the threat is over. Do not join a shootout to kill participants; wait until the fight is over. |
| Wanted level is not your target | A red name, Most Wanted status, or a hit is not a reason for you to kill someone. |
| Redzones are not kill on sight | Approaching or entering a redzone or airdrop does not make you a target. |
| Only a criminal under pressure can wave you off | They may tell you not to pick up the person they are fighting. If you revive that person anyway, they may kill you. |
| No revive timer abuse | Do not deliberately withhold a revive to extend a downed player's timer so they can be held hostage for longer. (If you are reporting ems for this make sure you have a clip showing their arrival, untill you respawn/get revived) |
| Cops may not kill you | A police officer may not kill EMS in any case. Abuse is a report, not a shoot. |
1. Stay neutral
EMS is its own side. Criminals are the other side. You do not join them.
- Don't team up with cops or with criminals.
- Don't fight for either side, or hold a position so one side can win. You are there to revive, not to participate in combat.
- Don't be a private medic for a crew, a gang, or one player.
- Don't ride with cops or ride with criminals.
- Don't drive cops or criminals away from their enemies.
- Don't tell one side where the other side is.
- Don't refuse to treat one side because you prefer the other.
- Only help suspects through the scripted revive and heal.
2. When EMS can be killed
On duty, you are not a free target. These are the only reasons a criminal or civilian may kill you.
- You are reviving or healing their enemy after they told you not to do so, or it is obvious that you are doing so.
- You are staying close enough to their enemy to revive or heal them.
- You move within assault-rifle range while an enemy nearby could still be revived.
- You initiate on them. Aiming, shooting, an intentional ram, a kill threat, or joining a side's fight all count.
- They have revenge on you, and the revenge icon is showing.
A police officer may not kill EMS in any case. Reviving a suspect, shooting, a red name, Most Wanted status, a hit, or a redzone does not give a cop a reason to shoot you. If an officer believes you are abusing the job, they report you. They do not kill you.
PVP zones do not make EMS kill on sight. Redzones and airdrops do not apply to you. Approaching one, crossing the edge, standing in one, or going in to treat someone is not a reason to shoot you. The zone is not initiation.
Nobody may kill you for:
- Being on duty, driving to a call, or standing by.
- Approaching, entering, or standing in a redzone or airdrop.
- Reviving their friend or someone on their own side.
- Looking at them, driving past, or being near a chase without helping the other side.
- Treating downed players after the fight is clearly over.
Taking you hostage to make you work for someone is not allowed. Killing you because you would not obey is not allowed, except for the rule in the next section.
They may force a gun on you, telling you to revive their side before police, but this only applies to civilians.
Do not follow the police to a fight. Do not trail a cop car, stage outside a scene they are heading to, or show up with them so you can revive their side.
Arriving because you were called to a downed player, or crossing a fight that was already happening, can be an accident. Once or twice is not punishment.
Doing it on purpose, or doing it over and over, is teaming. Staff can ban you from the EMS job. That is not a server ban. You lose the paramedic job for using it as police backup.
3. Telling EMS not to pick someone up
Only a criminal holding you under pressure may tell you not to revive someone.
Under pressure means they are in that fight right now. They are being shot at, they are shooting, or the person on the ground will be a direct threat to them the moment that person gets up.
- They may tell you clearly not to pick that person up.
- You stop that revive while the pressure is still real.
- A criminal who is safe, watching from a distance, already out of the fight, or calling it in for a friend may not give this order.
- A cop may not give this order. Another paramedic may not give it.
- When the pressure ends, the order ends. If that criminal dies, runs, or the fight is clearly over, you may revive the person you were told to leave.
If you revive them anyway, that criminal may kill you. Ignoring the order is a reason for the criminal who gave it to shoot you. This does not let them kidnap you, force you to revive their friends, or shoot you for treating someone who is not their enemy.
4. Abusing EMS to extend revive timers
EMS may not deliberately respond to a downed player and then refuse to revive them for the purpose of extending their revive timer, allowing them to be held hostage for longer.
- If you respond to a downed player, you must not deliberately withhold a revive to exploit the extended timer.
- You may not use your presence as EMS to keep a player incapacitated longer than intended so other players can take advantage of the situation.
- A clip is required when reporting this rule violation. The clip must show EMS arriving at the scene and the subsequent interaction, including the deliberate refusal to revive the downed player. The footage must provide sufficient context to establish what happened from arrival onward.
Not every delayed revive is abuse. Staff must be able to assess the context and determine whether EMS deliberately withheld medical assistance to extend the timer.
The following does not automatically constitute a violation:
- EMS revives another downed player first before attending to the original player.
- EMS is delayed because of an ongoing fight, an immediate threat, or another legitimate in-game situation.
- EMS does not immediately revive a player for a legitimate roleplay or gameplay reason.
- Someone telling EMS to not revive the player, in this case EMS needs to leave IMMEDIATELY and can not be stopped by said players.
Simply holding EMS from the revive, or reviving another player before the original player, does not by itself constitute abuse of the revive timer. Staff will assess the full interaction and available evidence before taking action.
5. Use of force
You may shoot only to:
- Defend yourself.
- Stop someone who is an immediate threat while you are reviving or healing.
Retreat when you reasonably can. Stop shooting as soon as the threat is over. Don't chase. Don't finish a suspect for the police, and don't finish an enemy for a criminal.
Red name, Most Wanted status, and hit targets are not your targets. Wanted level is never your reason to shoot.
6. Other restrictions
- Don't carjack innocent civilians, cops, or other paramedics.
- Don't damage unattended player vehicles on purpose.
- Don't use a trunk, a kidnapping, or any off-script revive to get around these rules.
