Taxi
Grab a cab from Downtown Cab Co., pick up fares around the city, and drive them to the pin. Clean cash — as long as the passenger doesn't freak out.
Cops and other government jobs can't do this one.
How to start
- Find the taxi depot in East Vinewood (Downtown Cab Co.).
- Press E to grab a cab. That's a $25,000 deposit from your bank.
- Get in and press G to start a fare.
- Drive to the passenger, let them in, then follow the GPS to the drop-off. Press E when you're there.
Bring the cab back to the depot and press E to return it. A beat-up taxi means you don't get the full deposit back. Destroy it or abandon it and the deposit is gone.
The run
Stay in the cab. If you hop out, you have about 15 seconds to get back in or the fare fails.
Passengers have a fear meter. Crashes, taking damage, and going too fast (highway speeds through the city) fill it up. High fear cuts the fare, and they can panic and bail.
There's a timer on each drop. Make it on time for the tip and your streak. Show up late and you still get the distance fare (minus fear), but the bonus is gone.
Drive like you've got a civilian in the back. Smooth driving is the difference between a full fare and a passenger who wants out.
Pay
Payout is cash.
- Distance. Farther trips pay more.
- Tip. On-time drops add $500, plus $500 more for each fare in a streak.
- Fear. A scared passenger takes a cut of the fare. Keep it green.
Rough pay
Ballpark per fare, assuming you didn't scare them half to death:
| Short hop | About $4,000–$10,000 plus tip if you're on time |
| Cross-town | About $10,000–$40,000 plus tip |
| Streak | +$500 extra per consecutive on-time drop (on top of the $500 tip) |
| Deposit | $25,000 — less back if the cab is damaged |
Tips
- G starts the job. E is for the depot and the drop-off. Same split as pizza.
- Keep the rented cab. A random taxi off the street won't count.
- Don't race. The fear meter is watching.
- The hop-out timer is short. Don't wander off to fight someone mid-fare.
- Return the cab in one piece if you want that deposit.
