Tow Driver
Neutral civilian job. Rent a flatbed, pick up abandoned and player cars, drop them at the Davis impound. You are not a cop.
Needs level 5. Can't be wanted or have a bounty.
Tow drivers are their own side for teaming, but you still play by civilian combat rules. People may shoot you if you start towing their car — that's initiation.
How to start
- Go to the Impound & Tow Depot blip in Davis (the public lot).
- Press E on the clerk. Clock in as Tow Operator.
- Rent a flatbed ($15,000 deposit from your bank — back when you return it).
- Load a car, drive it to the same lot, drop it off.
Clock out at the same clerk. Return the truck if you want the deposit.
The run
Dispatch can GPS you to a stranded car. You can also grab abandoned vehicles yourself — empty and sitting still long enough.
Park the flatbed close, get out, load it (short progress bar), then dump it at the depot.
| What you towed | Typical pay |
|---|---|
| Player-owned car | About $20,000–$30,000 |
| Dispatch / abandoned | About $5,000–$15,000 |
| AI traffic | About $3,000–$5,000 |
No duty paycheck. The tows are the job.
Owners pick their car up at the same lot and pay a release fee. That's their problem, not yours.
Rules
- You're a civilian. Don't help cops make arrests, and don't run with a crew as a "tow gunner."
- Don't tow a car that's in a fight just to grief. Towed player's car = they can shoot you.
- Hits on cops / EMS / tow aren't for you to take. See Rule 1.
- You can still do civilian stuff. This job does not block crime the way Police does — but mixing a marked tow truck with a robbery is a bad look and a rules risk.
Tips
- Stay near Davis if you want fast turn-ins. Long hauls eat the payday.
- Return the flatbed. Leave it and you burn the deposit.
- Wait for dispatch if the lot looks empty — calls fill in between player cars.
- Want law enforcement instead? That's Police at level 10.
